Global Burden of Childhood Pneumonia and Diarrhoea
This article, published in The Lancet, reviews the epidemiology of childhood diarrhea and pneumonia in 2010 to 2011 to inform the planning of integrated control programmes for both illnesses. The estimates show 1.731 billion episodes of diarrhea and 120 million episodes of pneumonia in children younger than five years of age in 2010. The authors also estimate that 700,000 episodes of diarrhea and 1.3 million of pneumonia led to death in 2011. ABSTRACT ONLY.
