Committing to Child Survival: A Promise Renewed—Progress Report 2013

The annual number of deaths of children under five years of age fell from 12.6 million in 1990 to 6.6 million in 2012. But much faster progress is needed to reduce preventable diseases that cause child mortality. This report follows the 2012 progress report on the “A Promise Renewed” initiative, and is intended to track progress on child survival and promote accountability for global commitments. It includes data and analysis about child mortality and causes of death from 2012, as well as a summary of progress made in meeting the overarching goals of A Promised Renewed. (Please note that progress reports from 2014 and 2015 are also available.)
