Disease burden and surveillance

A critical tool in determining the most efficient strategy for fighting specific illnesses is disease burden data. This information can provide governments, nongovernmental organizations, funders, and other stakeholders with a sense of which diseases are affecting a population, how many people are affected by a particular disease, and where funding may be most needed.
