Supply chain and logistics systems

As new, more sophisticated and costly vaccines become available, many developing-country immunization programs are struggling to manage larger stock volumes and minimize unnecessary wastage while improving immunization coverage. Ongoing efforts are required to ensure that developing-country immunization programs can make informed decisions about how to safely store, transport, and deliver essential health care products now and into the future.

PATH’s collaboration with the World Health Organization under project Optimize identified new technologies, tools, and forward-thinking strategies for maximizing the performance of supply chain management and distribution systems in low-resource settings. As part of this project, PATH contributed to a 2020 Global Vision for Vaccine Supply and Logistics Systems and continues to work with a variety of partners to address the gaps featured in the vision landscape analysis and elaborated in the vision action plans.
